The CICEE-T Project Partnership

POPA is establishing cooperation with the European CICEE-T project (https://ciceet.infoproject.eu).

The project supports the development of the first culturally informed digital coach education toolkit on safe sport, addressing the shared need to combat psychological, physical and sexual forms of interpersonal violence in sport in a way that is appropriate for Northern Mediterranean countries.

The project aims to strengthen coaches’ skills, competencies and knowledge of safe sport in Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Malta, Spain and Portugal, and to help protect sport from violence by improving the safe sport education delivered by coach education stakeholders.

CICEE-T will seek to move beyond the common practice of “importing and translating” centrally developed guidelines from the IOC, the EU and northern European countries. Instead, it will take a culturally informed, bottom-up approach that considers key cultural characteristics of the six Northern Mediterranean partner countries and their distinct needs for safe sport coach education in their own languages.
