POPA Meets with General Secretary of Sports Mr Giorgos Mavrotas

A delegation from the Hellenic Federation of Sports Coaches and Trainers met with the new General Secretary of Sports, Mr Giorgos Mavrotas.

The meeting addressed outstanding coaching issues, including coaching regulations for all sports, checks on coaches’ legal qualifications, harmonisation of coaching regulations, lifelong coach education, the establishment of a National Coaching School, and amendment of Article 31, paragraph 5(d), of Law 2725/1999 concerning individual sports.

POPA also requested the patronage and participation of the General Secretariat of Sports in the European event it will organise under the COACHFORCE21 programme. The event will focus on strengthening coaches’ role at European level across all areas of their work.

The meeting took place in a very positive atmosphere, with both sides expressing a sincere willingness to work closely together on all matters affecting coaches.
